TWIA Events

2024 is a very special year that will mark 104 years of social service in immigration and global education of the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit (IIMD), a United Way agency. IIMD was founded by YMCA in 1919.

We the 🌎 in πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ (TWIA) partnered with IIMD, a nonprofit organization to help in facilitating global learning and cultural awareness programs in Southern Michigan. TWIA team of Cultural Ambassadors representing 117 countries (from around the only planet we share are reaching to all sectors of local and international societies to help audiences of all ages to think globally and act locally for the propose of building bridges of Harmony, Unity, Peace and Understanding in our Global Community.

  These are major annual events that TWIA will coordinate for IIMD to help in raising fund to keep their doors open for anther century ( IIMD served over 2 M people) We & You are supporting IIMD’s theme of. {Where the Cultures Meet}.

  • Monday, January 15th, 10am-4pm: Martin Luther King Unity Festival @ Southfield Civic. 
  • Thursday, January 25th, 6-8pm: International Tea& Coffee for supporter
  • Friday, January 26th, 6-9pm Chines American Gala Awards Dinner 
  • Friday, February 23rd,6-9pm, African & African American Gala Award Dinner.
  • Thursday, March 7th , 6-9 pm, International Women Gala Award Dinner.
  • Thursday, March14, Top Fashion Market Place. 
  • Monday, April 1st 6-9pm, The World gets Talents Youth Day Concert@ WSU Community Auditorium. 
  • Thursday, April 25th, 6-9pm, Arab American Gala Award Dinner @ IIMD.
  • Saturday, April 27th, 3-6 pm, No Child left Behind, Children Day Celebration
  • Friday, May 31st ,6-9pm, Latin American Gala Award Dinner @IIMD.
  • Monday, June 10,10am-3pm start of the Global Journeys Summer Day Camp 
  • Thursday, June 27th,6-9pm Michigan International Professional Gala Award Dinner.
  • Second week of July Concert of Colors @ Detroit Cultural Center (to be confirmed).
  • Wednesday, July 17th, 10am-3pm Youth Day in Bel Isle, Detroit. (to be confirmed).
  • August & September Cultural Days in the community. Schools, parks& Recreations, Churches and Community Centers
  •  Thursday, October 3rd, Nita Awards Clarence Haddon Kickoff
  • Friday,October 4th-6th, The Continental Celebration of the Annual International Festival, 3 days Street Carnival ,art fair, taste- fest,  and 3 stages for cultural performances@ Detroit Cultural Center 
  • Saturday, December 2nd, 5-10pm, Holidays Around the World @ Detroit Cultural Center. Every Year with you and yours ready for lots of wonderful times In Michigan.
